Overview

Dekoh provides you a single-click installation process that helps you install and configure WordPress along with the PHP Engine and MySQL (WINDOWS only). What this means is that when you install WordPress on Dekoh, it automatically installs and configures both PHP and MySQL on your machine.

You can also download the PHP Engine (WINDOWS only) independently on your machine from the application gallery.

Installing WordPress on Dekoh Desktop

Installing WordPress on Dekoh is a very simple process, and it automatically installs all the other applications it depends on (PHP Engine and MySQL). If you already have MySQL running on your machine, Dekoh does not install another copy of it, only connects to the current installation.
Follow the steps below to install WordPress:
  1. Click on the WordPress link in the application gallery. This will take you to a new page, where you can view the description and all other dependency information about WordPress.
  2. Click Install.
  3. Once the installation is complete, you can view "WordPress" under the "Installed Applications" section. Click on this.
  4. The new page that appears informs you that a file called, wp-config.php is missing and you need to create it. Click on the link, "create a wp-config.php file through a web interface".

  1. This will take you to a new page. Click "let's go".
  2. You will now need to fill in your database information which will help connect to the database. Fill in the following details and click Submit:

    1. Database name – This field is pre-filled as “wordpress”. Leave it as is. You may change the name to whatever desired.
    2. User name – This field is pre-filled as "root". If you have an existing MySQL database, give your username here.
    3. Password – This field is left blank. If you have an existing MySQL database, give your password here.
    4. Database Host - localhost.
  1. You are now ready to connect to MySQL and setup the WordPress Blog on your machine. Click on the “run the install” link.
  2. In the next page that appears, click on the link, "First Step".
  3. At the First Step, enter the Weblog Title and your e-mail address, and continue to the Second Step.

  1. The page that comes up displays the default username and password. Copy this somewhere and click "log in".
  2. Use these to login to WordPress.

Important Note:Once wordpress installation is complete, we recomend you change the WordPress admin password immediately after your first login. Wordpress does not give a way to recover the admin password, in case you forget it.
  1. You are all set to go. Just start blogging.

This is just a one time installation process. The next time you click on your WordPress application in the Dekoh application gallery, you will be directly taken to your Weblog.
