1. Is Dekoh free?

Yes. Dekoh Desktop software and Dekoh Network (for sharing) is free.

2. If Dekoh Desktop is running a web server, can anyone connect to my computer directly?

No. The server is bound to a local port. So access from anyone outside is not possible.

3. Does Dekoh work behind firewall?

Yes. No public IP or opening of ports needed.

4. How does sharing work?

Dekoh Desktop connects to Dekoh Network at startup. all requests for shared applications/content comes through the Dekoh Network after authenticating and validating each request.

5. Does Dekoh upload any of my data?

No, Dekoh does not upload or store any data on the Dekoh website. When a request is made for any of the above, your computer directly serves the request. However Dekoh may cache this data temporarily. You should not assume the availability of any data in Dekoh website cache.

6. Can anyone access all my files on my computer?

No. It is not possible to directly access files on the computer. Dekoh applications only keep a reference to the actual file (music, video, photo, documents etc.) when it is imported or added (references are called DIO or DIgital Objects). A file that does not have a DIO created in Dekoh application can never be accessed. Each DIO can be associated with one or more shares. Only those buddies who are added to these shares with the DIO as a part have access to view the file.

7. What happens when I shut my computer?

Dekoh applications on your computer cannot be accessed by your buddies when you shut down your computer. This is similar to your instant messengers, such as Yahoo/AOL/MSN. When you are not connected to the network, your buddies cannot reach you.

8. How will my buddy know when am I online?

Currently this feature is not supported. Future versions may provide this.
