Collaborative editing of resources?

Hi,

I'm very interested in frameworks that make offline ajax applications possible. I have a specific question:

From your text on privacy and security I learned that there are the two default roles "owner" and "viewer". So I assume, that per default, only the creator of the digital asset can change it, right?

My question is: Is there a (non-default) way for non-owners to edit the asset? So for example I could start a text document, invite a buddy to it, and we could continue to work on this document collaboratively (like in the zoho text processor). Of course this would require a concept for synchronizing changes that were made offline.

Is it possible for a Dekoh application to allow collaborative editing and is there a concept for merging this content?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Kai

The applications that have been built on Dekoh (until now) are by default changeable only by the owner (as you rightly pointed out). But you can definitely build applications on Dekoh that override the default rules, meaning you can have an app which will allow both "owner" and "viewer" to operate on the digital assets.

In the case you are talking about (collaborative text editing), the Digital Asset is a text document, and edits from buddies may be queued and merged, but this would be the business logic of the Application.

Since your requirement sounds very similar to a Wiki application, you may want to read the features of the JSPWiki app (http://jspwiki.org/), and try deploying it on Dekoh.

Regards
