Wordpress install on Dekoh downloads wordpress and mysql. But during installation if it finds Mysql running already (port) Dekoh does not install another copy of Mysql but just connects to the current installation.

So if you had Mysqld running on your machine. Run 'mysql -u <admin user>' and create a database wordpress. Once you do this go back to Dekoh Desktop portal and click on wordpress and use the mysql user name password.

If you did not have mysql previously, then mysql is installed by Dekoh. the user name for mysql is 'root' and no password. You can simply click on next button and PHP should be able to connect to Mysql.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Once wordpress install is complete, remember the wordpress admin password generated, we recomend you change the password immediately after first login to something you can remember. Wordpress does not give a way to recover admin password, if you forget the wordpress generated admin password you will have to search in the database.

I guess I don't get it.

This will set up a wordpress blog but only on your PC ?

what is point of that or does it somehow publish it too -

I was hoping it was an interface to blog that i could use while offline - like when travelling

Well, currently we have packaged Wordpress as is. So there is no sync to your online account. Cut-paste for now :-) it is possible to extend Wordpress to do sync with online blogs. Maybe a project Dekoh or anyone can volunteer can take up.

PHP and Mysql downloads are platform specific. The current packaging to install Wordpress, PHP and Mysql together as a single click bundle is available only for windows.
