Re:Error After installation

Hello Shishank,
We're sorry but support for authenticated proxies is planned for a future release of Dekoh. However it would help us if you could zip up the Dekoh/server/nodes/default/logs folder and attach it here.

Thanks and Regards

Error After installation

Hello Shishank,
Thank you for trying out Dekoh.
Normally the Dekoh installer would detect if you're behind a proxy. However if for some reason it was not able to do so in your case we have to figure out why. Request you to try out the following steps -

1. Open Dekoh/server/nodes/default/config/das.properties in a text editor. (Dekoh would be installed in your system root drive, normally C:\)

2. Check if the property das.proxies is present in the file.

If yes, it should be in the form of
das.proxies=proxyhostname;proxyport;false(false indicates it's an HTTP proxy)

If no, please set this property in the abovementioned format,
das.proxies=proxyhostname;proxyport;false

and restart Dekoh. To restart, type http://localhost/dekohportal/shutdown and then click on the "click here to start" link.

Do get back if you need any clarifications.

Regards

Re:I click on "Install", but there's nothing!

Hello MK,
After you click install, a Java applet will show up (a rotating star which will change after some time to the message 'Detecting Dekoh Desktop'). Does this happen in your case? If it does not, what else do you see on the install page other than 'Click here for help' and 'Installation Problems'?
Does it say 'Click here to download plugin' on FireFox?

Re:Problem installing Worpress

Hello,
You do not need to install PHP and Database separately - when you choose to install WordPress it will also install PHP and MySQL by itself.
When you click on the Install button for WordPress it will show you the dependent software - viz. PHP and MySQL. Clicking on 'Install' will automatically download and install all three.
   Hope this helps.

Re:Problem installing Worpress

Hello,

Good to know it works now! We'll investigate the problem.

Querywise,
1. The PHP and MySQL downloads are platform specific. The current packaging to install Wordpress, PHP and Mysql together as a single click bundle is available only for windows. We might have a Linux bundle in the future.
2. Your point is valid - however this alpha release of Dekoh was just to showcase what is possible with the Dekoh platform. In a future version we will have functionality to install a WP-private MySQL.
3. Thank you for your suggestions - we shall definitely try it out.

Regards
    Hrish

Re:Problem installing Worpress

Hello,
We are not able to pinpoint the problem from the logs. However you can try the workaround mentioned below -

1. Access these two URLs
http://www.dekoh.com:80/samples/download?compid=http://www.dekoh.com/ns/component/generic/MySQL&compversion=5.0.37
http://www.dekoh.com:80/samples/download?compid=http://www.dekoh.com/ns/component/app/WordPress&compversion=2.1.3

- They point to the MySQL and WP binaries. Save them in some location and copy them to C:\Dekoh\server\downloads. Restart Dekoh (the restart might take some time while mysql installs).

Hope this helps.

Re:Problem installing Worpress

Hello,
From the logs it appears that MySQL failed to install for some reason, and as a result WordPress too. Could you please try the following
1. Delete the mysql folder inside C:\Dekoh
2. Attempt to install WordPress again (it should download only WordPress and MySQL - PHP should already have been installed earlier)
3. Give some time for the installation to finish. The progress bar might stop with the message 'Installing WordPress' for sometime, but please let it complete (we're working on improving the progress bar) and return to the Dekoh portal main page.

If it still does not install or hangs/takes a long time, request you to send the output of the C:\Dekoh\server\nodes\default\logs\stdErr.log file _without_ restarting Dekoh or attempting to install it again (to avoid overwriting it).

Hope this helps.

Re:Problem installing Worpress

Hello,
Do you already have an existing installation of MySQL on your computer? If yes, the installer will not install MySQL but will connect to that existing installation.
Could you check if there is a folder called C:\Dekoh\mysql ? If yes, it means that MySQL was installed, but might not have started for some reason.
It would help if you could post some more information like the contents of the file
C:\Dekoh\server\nodes\default\logs\stdErr.log

Re:dekoh_shell.{bat|sh} doesn't start on port 80

Hello Gaurav,
To run it on some other port, you have to change the following file

Dekoh\server\nodes\default\config\dasSysArguments.properties

There is a property called port=80, change the value to whatever port you want. Be careful not to touch any of the other values.

Re:Uninstall

Hello,
Reply to your query is on
http://www.dekoh.org/forums/posts/list/24.page
Copying it here for your convenience

Version 1.0 will have a proper UI for uninstall. For now follow these steps:

1. Double click 'Dekoh Desktop' icon on the desktop and login

2. Click on Shutdown (top right corner)

3. If you are running on Windows double click on c:\dekoh\server\bin\remove-service.bat

4. Delete Dekoh install directory (on windows it is c:\dekoh)

5. Delete Desktop icon 'Dekoh Desktop'

Thanks for trying Dekoh.

Re:Install error

Hello Ramdas,
We've changed some settings on our end - it should work fine now even if you're behind a firewall. Could you try to install it once more please? Do not forget to delete C:\Dekoh (if it exists) before attempting to reinstall.
In case it still fails, could you copy paste the whole output from the browser JVM console so that we can diagnose the problem?

Re:Dekoh Development.........

Hi Ramesh,
Dekoh Desktop is capable of running any standards compliant (Java/JSP/Flash/Ajax/DHTML) web application as is - you can simply deploy it on Dekoh and get it up and running. On top of that Dekoh provides you with an API to access out-of-the-box access to Web 2.0 features like tagging, commenting etc.
You might want to check out the Developer wiki at
http://www.dekoh.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp
We are right now in the process of updating it with stuff for developers - stay tuned! Do let us know of any specific queries that you might have.

Re:Add a feature to see Buddies on network

Hello Srikanth,
You can invite buddies simply by knowing their email IDs - on the Dekoh Desktop, click on Add/Invite and add your friends' email IDs - they may be Dekoh users or may not - it does not matter. Once they receive your invitation they can either choose to sign up and be part of the Dekoh network, or simply view your shared media without installing Dekoh.
