I was pleasantly surprised to get the early adopter email this evening, so I went straight in, confirmed my details, and started to follow the instructions to install Dekoh.
No sooner had I gotten past the security certificate than the error There was an error while installing. Please delete C:\Dekoh and try again. appeared on my screen.
So, I went to the C:\ and there is no Dekoh folder, nor in Program Files... in fact anywhere on the machine.
The next logical step was to clear all of my temporary files in case the problem was there. That didn't help.
And that's the extent of my troubleshooting skills.
I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, using IE7.
Anybody got any ideas?

I am also getting same error.
Additional information - I am behind a proxy and firewall where there are lot of restriction on downlaod.
Is it possible to download the installer separately and install?
Regards,
Rejeev.

Hello Rejeev,
Your proxy or firewall might be a possible reason - can you try on a machine not behind a firewall? Right now it is not possible to download the installer separately - however we'll soon have such a facility.

Hello Akshay,
The troubleshooting help pages are on
http://www.dekoh.org/wiki/view/InstallationHelp
http://www.dekoh.org/wiki/view/InstallationTroubles
Can you let me know your browser/OS version and the JDK version you have (to find the JDK version, open a command window and type java -version)?
Regards
Hrish

Hello matc,
Windows Vista has certain restrictions as to whether even signed Java applets are allowed to write to the root directory i.e., C after you give them permission - in this case, the Dekoh Desktop installer is a signed applet which needs write permissions to C: and this is denied. There is no known workaround for this now.
The following links document the issue.
http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/#windowsvista
http://weblogs.java.net/blog/chet/archive/2006/10/java_on_vista_y.html
This is why Windows Vista is not on the list of Dekoh - supported OSs yet - but we're working on possible solutions. Stay tuned.

Hello Draconis,
It seems there is a problem if your rootdrive is E: - we're working on a solution and will have the fix in the next update. We'll keep you posted.
